Gatare Station - Rwanda
We recommend this coffee if you brew it with a filter, a French press or other soft brewing methods, and if you're looking for something floral and fruity.
We're off to Rwanda again for a coffee with an aromatic profile that's very typical of the region: great fruity flavours reminiscent of apple and blackcurrant, a delicate floral touch and above all a lovely sweetness for cups full of flavour.
Established in 2003, Gatare from the Nyamasheke district is one of the oldest washing stations in the region. Renowned for its quality productions, the station has consistently performed well in the Cup of Excellence competition, frequently ranking among the top lots. Gatare employs seven full-time staff and an additional 90 seasonal workers, 80% of whom are women. The station covers just 2 hectares, but supports 1,096 local farmers who collectively supply the coffee cherries.
